Storytelling resources: The Songs of the Flute and the Drum

A storytale that helps people think about whether they value the rights Freedom of Religion or Belief (FORB) protects – rights to think, to believe, to belong, to practice beliefs, to question, to change and to refuse to go against their convictions. Ideal for children, youth and adults in formal educational and informal settings, the story introduces the topic of freedom of religion or belief in a non-threatening way, creating space for a constructive discussion of sensitive issues.

"The story led to lots of deep discussions. It opened many windows in people’s minds. They started to reflect on their own communities – on everything from gender norms to if it’s OK to break with the status quo."
